Head of Senior School

Applications are warmly invited for the position of Head of Senior School at Newhaven College. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic educator who is committed to making a significant contribution to the continuing growth and development of Newhaven College.

The Head of Senior School is responsible for the day to day running of the school and oversees the academic, pastoral care and co-curricular programme. 

Reporting directly to the Principal, the Head of Senior School is part of the College’s Leadership Team and plays a key role in the implementation of the College’s Strategic Direction, Hearts & Minds, and College Vision.

The position commences from the start of Semester Two, 2024, or later by negotiation with the successful candidate.

We are seeking applications for two Teaching roles to join our collaborative team to commence in Term 2.

Secondary Teacher – Humanities and Science. Fixed term temporary contract for Term 2 2024, part time.
 
Secondary Teacher - Science, Maths. Temporary fixed term parental leave cover commencing Term 2 until 10 December 2024, with possible extension, full time.

Primary Teacher - Year 5. Temporary Fixed term contract until 10 December 2024 role, full time.

Director of Business

Applications are warmly invited for the position of Director of Business at Newhaven College. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Director of Business who is committed to making a significant contribution to the continuing growth and development of Newhaven College.
 
The Director of Business is a significant role within Newhaven College. The position requires:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in financial management and reporting
  • A purposeful leader, who displays qualities of trust, respect, integrity and confidentiality
  • An outstanding communicator who fosters collegiality, building capacity in all stakeholders.

The Role
The Director of Business will be responsible for overseeing the prudent financial and administrative functions of the School to ensure a sound financial outcome and an effective and efficient level of internal and external service across the areas of Finance, Contract Management, Project Management and Buildings and Grounds.
 
The Director of Business will also act as the Company Secretary. In this role the Director of Business has formal responsibilities as a designated officer of the company. The Company Secretary provides executive support for the Board of Directors in its governance role and advises on governance issues and practices.
 
The Director of Business is a member of the Leadership Team and supports this team in both the strategic and day-to-day leadership of the school.
 
The Director of Business reports to:

  • The School Principal on all matters pertaining to finance, strategic financial management and school operations.

  • Through the Principal to the Board of Directors as Company Secretary.
  • Through the Principal to the Board of Directors and the Finance Committee for all matters pertaining to strategic financial management.

Commencing Term Two 2024, (as negotiated), the Director of Business is a full-time position with a 5-year term with 6 weeks annual leave.
