Newhaven College offers more than an education. Students have a broad range of co-curricular activities which provide them opportunities to pursue an individual passion, broaden their horizons and gain strong performance or public speaking skills.
Students are actively encouraged to participate in inter house and inter school sport throughout both summer and winter competitions. Debating, public speaking, bushwalking, surfing, camps, and expeditions are also an active part of the school’s offering. Music and drama programs provide students with many opportunities in performance. A major drama production is held each year in the Senior School, and every second year in the Junior School. There are regular musical soirees as well as an annual music camp. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme is offered from Years 9 to 12. Students can participate in overseas trips including cultural visits to Japan and Vietnam or trekking in India and Borneo.
Students can also access a myriad of leadership positions – ranging from Captains within our Junior School, through to Student Leaders at Year 9 and finally as members of our Year 12 student cabinet. The leadership opportunities are diverse and enable students to demonstrate their motivation and dedication to the school or a particular activity in a way that is relevant and meaningful.
