The VCE offering at Newhaven College is broad, in order to maximise student choice in preparation for university study, and may change from year to year depending on student preferences.
An early commencement (immediately after Year 11 exams) provides each student with an additional four weeks’ study prior to breaking for end of year. Reading and set work is then carried out over the holiday period. This gives students a much longer study period leading up to their VCE exams and the all-important revision phase therefore commences earlier than in many other schools.
Our students regularly achieve outstanding VCE results, placing Newhaven College amongst the top two performing schools in Gippsland.
A broad range of VCE studies are on offer. Students may also choose to study a VET Subject (either within the Newhaven College curriculum) or externally, and may even undertake study by Distance Education where appropriate.
Counselling of students in terms of career and subject choices commences in Year 10, and carries right through until the end of your child’s secondary schooling. Our staff encourage students to gain accurate information and actively seek out and research their higher education and employment opportunities.
Further information about the subjects offered and their associated requirements can be found by downloading our VCE Subjects 2012 Brochure, the VCE Subject Selection Handbook 2013 or the VCE Policy Handbook 2013 from this page.
