SEISA Cross Country Championships
Tuesday, 30 August 2016

Newhaven College hosted the South East Independent Schools Association (SEISA) Cross Country Championships on Thursday 25 August.

Over 400 students and staff from Gippsland Grammar (Sale), St Pauls Anglican Grammar (Traralgon & Warragul Campuses), Beaconhills College (Berwick & Pakenham Campuses) and Newhaven College enjoyed sunny yet crisp conditions with recent rain creating challenging cross country courses featuring natural water obstacles. Our 82 acre campus provided an ideal mix of hills, tracks and off road terrain for the athletes who tackled the courses that ranged in distance from 3.5 – 5.5km.
Our 84 competitors all performed well resulting in Newhaven College coming second overall to Gippsland Grammar, our best team performance in SEISA Cross Country. Three students won their race to become SEISA Champions for 2016. They are, Under 12 Girls – Abigail McCulloch, Under 14 Girls – Olivia Hughes and Under 17 Boys – Toby Heislers.
Other top placings for Newhaven College athletes included: U21 Boys - 2nd Declan Ryan and 4th Lachlan Nunn, U16 Girls - 2nd Ingrid Nunn and 3rd Taylah Cook, U15 Boys - 2nd Luke Nicholson, U14 Girls - 2nd Sophia Hughes and U12 Girls - 3rd Poppy Corbett.
