Congratulations to our Equestrian Team who competed in our 8th annual Interschool Show Jumping Championships on Friday 22 November at Tonimbuk Equestrian Centre.
Our event has become a favourite for riders from all over Victoria. More than forty schools were represented with students travelling from as far away as Castlemaine, Mansfield, Euroa and Geelong.
This year the new venue of Tonimbuk Equestrian Centre proved popular as the two enormous indoor arenas that are home to the Tonimbuk International Horse Trials gave riders a sense of competing at a big event.
Our team’s combined scores earned us a terrific 3rd placing in the overall Schools Championship. The individual riders who placed highly were: Boyd West riding Crystal Bauhina – 3rd in Level 5 Intermediate, Ella berry riding Azza - 6th in Level 4 Progressive and Jaelina Kiley riding Tenah Ko Charlie – 5th in Level 2 Encourage.
These results rounded off a stellar year for our Equestrian Team who have also competed at Horse Trails and Tetrathlons (a combination of swimming, running and show jumping) and have travelled many miles to represent Newhaven College.
Throughout 2019 Fleur Timmins, Boyd West and Jaelina Kiley have led our team with many outstanding results, often competing on two horses at a single event. Fleur has competed at Horse Trials or Show Jumping on most weekends of the year. Boyd has represented Newhaven at many show jumping events and, with Jaelina, has been responsible for our top ten ranking on the Inter School Jumping leader board out of over 50 schools.
