Camps & Excursions

Camps Program

Newhaven College has a comprehensive camps program for Year 2-12 students.  The variety of experiences assist students in developing self-esteem, strengthening and/or discovering new relationships, and developing leadership and organisational skills. 
Please note: Due to COVID19 restrictions some camps, excursions and programs may need to be postponed, cancelled or altered.

Junior School Camps

Our Junior School camping program is available to students in Years 2-4. Students are encouraged to be active participants in a variety of experiences, developing positive social attitudes and building self-confidence. 
Year 2 - School Sleepover. Students enjoy watching a movie, mini golf, fun games/activities, and the excitement of sleeping at school.  This is an exciting introduction to the many school camps our students will experience in future years. 
Year 3 - Healesville.  During their stay students enjoy a range of fun activities including the flying fox, rock climbing wall, low ropes course and campfire cooking.  A visit the famous Healesville Sanctuary is a highlight for our students.
Year 4 - Melbourne.  Students enjoy this unique inner-city camp experience. Students explore the attractions and sites of Melbourne including Eureka Skydeck Edge, MCG Experience, MSAC and Melbourne Museum. 

Middle School Camps

Our Middle School camps program is designed to encourage students to be active participants in a variety of experiences, encouraging them to develop positive social attitudes and self-confidence. 
Year 5/6  - These camps are a terrific experience for our students offering an opportunity to connect and enjoy a range of activities at Sovereign Hill (Year 5) and Camp Coolamatong (Year 6).
Year 7  - The primary focus of this camp is to encourage new friendships, teamwork and general cohesion in the Year 7 group. Students undertake group  challenges and activities including Rock Climbing, Kayaking, Bushwalking, Bike Riding. House Olympics and Kite Making.
Year 8 - The focus of this camp is more on teamwork, adventure, and camping skills. The camps program aims to develop students’ respect for the environment, appreciation of nature and ability to work within a team to plan and participate in personally challenging activities.

 

Senior School Camps

Our Senior School camps program aims to develop students’ respect for the environment, appreciation of nature and ability to work within a team to plan and participate in personally challenging activities. 
Year 9 - A five-day program at Wollangarra Outdoor Education Centre and The City Experience.
Year 10 - This camp is designed to encourage students to develop positive social attitudes and self-confidence. Students may choose to participate in an expedition, sea kayaking, horse riding or surf camp experience. 
Year 11 - Outdoor Education students travel to Mt Baw Baw for a summer hike and then return in winter for a snow camp as part of their VCE studies.
Year 12 - Outdoor Education students explore the local Bunurong coast and undertake a sea kayaking adventure to French Island.

Excursions

Class excursions are usually related to the unit of work being studied in class and offer a further opportunity for learning.
