Scholarship Opportunities

Newhaven College provides a number of scholarships to support dedicated and talented students, helping them build on their academic and leadership strengths. Throughout the year, scholarships for the following year will become available. Scholarship opportunities include Academic, Music and General Excellence. Bursary Scholarships are also available for students who qualify.

Newhaven College offers scholarships to students who demonstrate exceptional aptitude in a range of abilities.

General Excellence Scholarship

Newhaven College is calling for applications for their General Excellence Scholarship for entry into the College in 2027. This will be awarded to applicants in Secondary School at any level who can demonstrate outstanding abilities in one or more of the following fields:

Academic
Sport
Performing Arts (Dance, Drama, Music)
Leadership
Community Involvement

General Excellence Scholarships are awarded based on application and interview. Applications open Monday 21 April and close Monday 25 May 2026.

Music Scholarship 2027

Newhaven College offers Music Scholarships for applicants entering Years 7, 9 and 11 in 2027 who are passionate and dedicated to music and demonstrate strong musical potential.

The recommended minimum standard will vary depending on the instrument. Music Scholarships include individual music tuition lessons (1/2 hourly lessons per week during school terms) for the duration of the student's enrolment at Newhaven College, subject to satisfactory progress.

The College will award scholarships to talented and dedicated students of music who demonstrate strong musical potential. There is a recommended minimum standard of;

•Year 7 – a high pass in Grade 4 AMEB or equivalent
•Year 9 – a high pass in Grade 5 AMEB or equivalent
•Year 11 – a high pass in Grade 6 AMEB or equivalent

(a) Complete the enclosed application form (b) Attach a copy of the applicant’s latest school report if available, not necessary for current students.

Peter Reith Scholarship 2027

Mr Peter Reith was instrumental in the founding of Newhaven College, before pursuing a career in politics. Peter’s determined efforts saw the school open in 1980.

This scholarship is in recognition of his extraordinary contribution. The Peter Reith scholarship will be awarded to a student entering Year 10 or 11 in 2027, who, like Peter, strives to make a positive difference in the world through their actions.

Bursary Scholarships

This Scholarship provides an opportunity for students wishing to enrol at Newhaven College next year.

Thanks to the generosity of members of the school community, Newhaven College has a limited number of bursary places for students entering the College next year. If you, a family member or someone you know would like to join us next year, but may not have the means to do so, this opportunity may be for you.
