Mr. Tony Corr became Principal of Newhaven College in January 2021, succeeding Mrs. Gea Lovell, who led the school for the previous decade.
Tony Corr studied at the University of Melbourne, completing a Bachelor of Education in 1992, and went back to complete a Master of Educational Leadership in 2014. His work career as a teacher started at Yeshivah - Beth Rivkah Colleges. He then moved on to many roles at Xavier College, where he remained for 19 years, working as Head of Drama, Head of Arts, Head of Staff, Head of Senior School and became Deputy Head in January 2010. In 2017, Mr Corr moved to Melbourne Grammar School, where he became Director of Staff and Head of Senior School/Deputy Headmaster.
Tony Corr has a long and happy connection with Phillip Island and the Bass Coast region. Tony’s parents would take him and his four siblings to Cowes Caravan Park for holidays in the 1970s. Over his summer holidays, he would work at a local fish and chip shop. Since then, Tony has felt an affinity with the coastal lifestyle the region has to offer. The role of Principal at Newhaven College allowed Tony the opportunity to reconnect with the area.
Since becoming Principal of Newhaven College, Mr Corr has seen the school grow. Newhaven College now educates over 900 students per year. Working closely with the College Board, Mr Corr has overseen the expansion of facilities at the College, including the Performing Arts Wing, new developments at the Year 9 Environmental Centre and a Mountain Biking Track circumnavigating the school grounds. Tony’s passion for Newhaven College is unwavering, with his desire to see the school broaden its offering to the local community.
