Bass Strait Bandits head off to Townsville
In 2022, we lost our beloved Middle School teacher, Karen Pearce, to cancer. Support Karen's husband, Ric, and brother Mark, who are off on an incredible adventure this July to raise funds for Cancer Research, in honour of Karen. This adventure is particularly apt, as Karen was an adventurer in her own right.
About the S@*tbox Rally:
• S@*tbox Rally cars must be less than $1500 in value
• Rally 7 days in length
Mildura to Townsville, via the Gulf of Carpentaria
• All proceeds raised for the Cancer Council, for cancer research
• Minimum of $5000 already reached, Ric and Mark now aiming to raise $25,000

• Lazy afternoon of lawn bowls fundraising event on Sunday 15th March, 1-4pm
• San Remo Bowls Club• $10 a ticket• Bar open to purchase drinks
• BBQ food to purchase• Live music, thanks to Travis Thompson
• $5 entry to finale ‘Corner to Corner’ Competition (won by getting closest to jack, diagonally across lawn)

Science of the Surf
Woolamai Beach SLSC is hosting a Community Beach Awareness Day, which may interest anyone keen to better understand surf safety and rip currents. The 1.00pm rip dye demonstration on the beach could be particularly interesting, especially for the junior school kids.
The program includes:
11.00 – Agency information stands and engagement (ambulance, fire, police etc)
11.30 – Welcome and introductions
11.40 – Prof Rob Brander – Science of the Surf
12.30 – Panel discussion and Q&A
1.00 – Rip dye demonstration on the beach
1.30 – Lunch, beach activities and LSV marquee (including trade displays and
inflatable ducks)
