Our House Surfing Carnival was bigger and better than ever this year, with a refreshed format that gave more students than ever a chance to shine. Between extra heats, a new repechage system, and specialised grom (beginner) pathways, the talent and enthusiasm on display were incredible.
Huge shoutout to the 17 surfers who jumped in for the first time this year!
The refinement of our repechage heats gave our surfers multiple pathways to glory. A huge shoutout to Chloe Hosking, who proved why the second-chance format works. After a tough initial heat, she fought her way through the repechage all the way to a win in the Girls Final!
A huge congratulations to our winners:
Thanks to everyone who made it a legendary day on the waves.

On Tuesday 17 February, thirty-one excited Newhaven College students headed to the Cowes Outdoor Pool for the Year 3-6 District Swimming Carnival. The day was full of sunshine, cheering and some seriously impressive swimming from all our students. Here are a few reflections, sharing the fun, nerves and proud moments from a fantastic day in the water.
When we got to the Cowes Primary School swimming pool the energy was high and it was extremely hot and humid. Everyone gave their best effort in the pool. By the end of the day, everyone was proud of their effort and enthusiasm, whether they got a ribbon or not. Surprisingly, most people are going to Divisionals! The day ended with a refreshing icy pole.
Isabel, Liv, Eden, Alex and Ava - Year 6
I made it to district swimming and competed in freestyle and backstroke, and I came third in both and in the relay I came second.
Jackson Cohoe - Year 3
My district swimming carnival highlight was swimming in my race and seeing a whole bunch of my friends from other schools.
Matilda Phillips - Year 6
I was so excited and nervous at the same time my first stroke was freestyle, and I came fourth. My second swim was breaststroke, and I came second. My last race was the freestyle relay and we came second.
Lucas Jackson - Year 4
Today I went to district swimming and in my heat I came first in breaststroke. I came third overall, so I have made it to the next level, division swimming.

Newhaven College recently hosted a cricket session for girls aged 5-12 as part of the Cricket Blast program. We welcomed 10 Newhaven College participants who took part in a range of batting, bowling and fielding activities designed to build fundamental skills and confidence in the game.
Thank you to Class of 2024 alum, Heidi Driscoll, for organising the session and helping run the program alongside Cricket Victoria. Her support ensured the afternoon ran smoothly and provided a positive experience for all involved.
We look forward to the next session.
