Thank you to our school community for supporting our school production Xanadu in large numbers. It was wonderful to see our Junior School students dressing up and really getting into the joy and fun of this glittery Musical. Your applause is still ringing in all cast, crew and musician’s ears as we sit back and feel both satisfied and relieved that the show has continued the strong tradition of providing entertaining performances for our appreciative audience.
We were blessed with strong leadership from our Year 12 students Cecily de Gooyer (Kira/Clio), Archie Robson (Sonny), Nissa Campbell Walker (Melpomene), Indigo Aurora (Calliope), Matilda Russell (Erato), Olivia Helps (Dance ensemble) and Angelina Mumby (Rock Star) who role-modelled to our cast of 47 students how to approach rehearsals and performance with dedication, commitment and empathy for others.
A team of over 80 staff, students and parents all contributed to realising this vibrant and comedic musical in fine style in collaboration with professional partners. Entering our dazzling foyer (thanks Mel Flower and Sonya Neal!), seeing the photos showcasing the students and the incredible work in costuming of Steph Thornborrow and Robyn Rumbelow we aimed to transport people away from their daily routines for a couple of hours into a light-hearted story with great music played by our talented band. Musical Director Matt Goss, Choreographer Leasal Liddle-Pirouet, Vocal Coach Elly Poletti and myself continually spoke about how impressed we were with the approach of our whole cast during Production week as they patiently worked on cues and honed their dance and scene work.
Thank you to all who supported these students to have a positive and enjoyable experience.
